looking for relatives

Postby vicanaqua » 13 Oct 2015, 12:58

Hi all
My name is Victoria Tombs however the relatives I am searching for would know me as Victoria Davis.
I am hoping by putting a message on here will help me in my search to find some relatives we have lost touch with over the past few years.
I am searching for my Godparents and have tried many different ways in looking for them but unfortunately haven't had much luck.
I have wrote to the Greek Embassy in Greece as well as London in England as well have searching though social media sites.

My Godparents are called Jeoffe ( not sure of the spelling of Jeoffe sorry )and Jacqueline Davies
All I can remember is that they moved to Symi quite a few years ago now possible 20 years to help run or own a Taverna on the island.
It would mean an awful lot to me and my family if anyone knew of them or could give me any details so we can reconnect contact.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Hi Vicky and welcome to the forum.

As far as I know Geoff (or maybe Jeff) and Jaqui Davies left Symi and moved back to the UK in 2004 (could be 2005). You are right, they did run a taverna for quite a long time and I remember them well. They started at a quiet smallish place on the road between Chorio and Pedi before moving to larger premises in the centre of Chorio itself.

I'm not sure where in the UK they moved to but I remember Geoff was from the West Midlands so perhaps they settled back there?

I'm sorry I can't be more definite but maybe someone else could fill in more details for you.

Returned to the UK for medical reasons (knee problems) and I believe they were living in Wolverhampton.

Good luck with your search Vicky, I hope you manage to make contact again.

While I was trying to work out just which year Geoff and Jaqui left Symi I came across this picture that I thought you might like to see. It was taken in 2004:

Great photo Allan. We remember Geoff and Jaqui well - had some wonderful meals with them when they ran the Taverna where the Olive Tree is now. If I remember rightly they used to do a brilliant "Curry Night".

Vicky - I do hope your search goes well and that you and your family can be re-united with them.

Good luck!

Last I heard they were running an antiques/second hand business.

I think it may have been called something along the lines of 'Two J's' or TwoJays. Think they were in Shropshire.

Let us know how you get on

You can find Jacqui and Jeff at the Two Jays Antiques in Shifnal. They have a page on Facebook with their contact details and I believe they were actually on UK TV recently.
