Accomodation

Postby Lofty » 18 Jul 2008, 09:55

We are coming to Symi at the end of August for 10 days. We are just looking for basic accomodation, a double room with a balcony,a fridge and air con. We would like to stay up in Chorio.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay? We are looking at Hotel Fiona if they have any availibility so if anyone has stayed there feedback will be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Good choice. We like the Fiona. Always described as a simple room with a view. Yes, comfortable, aircon, fridge, balcony and I guarantee bananas with your honey and yoghourt if you have breakfast. View? What view?

Oh yes, that view. Not many better than that. And you have the Rainbow, Lefteris, Syllogos and Giorgio's within 100 metres.

That view is great! We will consider staying at The Fiona next time too, we spend most evenings in Lefteris' but usually eat in the Harbour.
We don't mind the steps back up, works that dessert off! :)
Let us know how your holiday goes, look forward to hearing about it!

Richard forgot to mention in his list of Chorio amenities two well known late night watering holes, The Two A's (Formally the Jean and Tonic) and the Sunrise Cafe. :D :D

Thanks everyone - always difficult making a decision. Now I've booked Hotel Fiona can't wait but other half is unsure as to whether we should also have a few days down at the harbour area - think it's the thought of the steps after a few ouzos - how easy is it getting taxis back up??

The bus from the harbour up to the village runs every hour, on the hour until eleven at night. But you can always stay up and drink in one of the bars by the village square; lots of people do! :geek:

The Fiona is first right past the bars you can see in the photo. Only a few yards to stagger after your evening ouzo! :)

It is indeed Mille. Part of the ones on Flickr. Mike seems to have helped himself again.

Reminds me of one of my favorite views of Symi ,looking down at the harbor from the landing strip next to the Kali Strata cafe.

Whether you go up or down, either is not too far away from the other Lofty so don't panic. But if your thing is a room with a view, you might be better going up, although there are some lovely views from harbourside accommodation.

The long and the short of it is that you would be hard pushed to make a mistake. Just go with the flow my friend.

Once you arrive you'll be happy wherever you choose. If you stay up, try down next year and vice versa. For what it's worth we're harbourside people but at the end of August it can be hot and Chorio gets what air movement there is.
