New photo blog for the Winter

I've just written a new photo blog for the winter, featuring photos of Symi residents' every-day life out of season. It replaces the old Out and About page, for the moment anyway!

We should be able to update the photos much more regularly using this format. Visitors will also have access to a variety of different sized photos, which are free to download.

There is a link to the Out and About archive which goes back to Easter 2000.

All comments welcome! :)

I've got some from 1977, which my father-in-law took. He also shot some super 8 film, which I'll try and digitise for you.

My father took some in about 1974, but I'm not sure where they are. In both cases it is just coincidence that they visited the island years before I first did; I had no idea they had been there before I became involved with the Symi Visitor.

As a relative new comer to Symi by other people's standards, I find the old photographs fascinating. It's good to see the harbour in past times and see just how much things have changed in relatively recent times and to be able to recognise some of the faces.

I've often thought it would be good to have some sort of collective written account of these things but to date have only found such knowledge to be in the minds of those who have visited or lived on the the island for years.

Thank you for yet more great and really interesting photos :) ....it's good to be able to see what Symi looked like all those years ago and helps to put all the changes into perspective.

I agree the photos are lovely, although it'd be nice if people could be identified so we all know who we're looking at. But the system to me is just too cumbersome. Perhaps I'm not using it right.
