There's nothing at Rhodes Airport to spend money on... :(

Athens, on the other hand, is a different story... :D

The new Rhodes Airport is a shadow of the former when it comes to buying anything. Especially refreshments when waiting for flights. When we were there in July, only one small counter for food and drink. In addition, there Air Conditioning was not working and that was at the time of the very high temperatures. Maybe it is now opperational.

Now that's a real disaster Pat :o ! Hope you managed to find a suitable alternative girl ;) .

Sounds a bit like shopping at Marks and Spencer, if you don't get it when you see it, you could miss your chance ;) !

Shopping on Symi is largely opportunistic, particularly in the winter!

I think they are going to extend the Rhodes airport so we might get some decent shops there. :D

Won't be able to spend much in the shops at Glasgow Airport as they are all shut at that time in the morning, but could easily spend a fortune in the cafes :(

You're right, MrsMcS, airport refreshment shops are a bloody rip off. :(
I've no idea why they are so expensive, they have a captive market, but its a world-wide trend of high prices and inferior food.
Maybe their rents are hugely excessive?? :?:

It's odd that Findlay and Mrs McS have to check in 3+ hours before take-off. My tickets, which have just arrived, thankfully only show the usual 2 hours before take-off. This means that I can have a leisurey stroll to my local station and clamber on the train direct to the airport! :D I agree that airports do charge the earth for things and Manchester is no exception. Funnily enough, the petrol station there, which I've always assumed to be priced at motorway service station levels, sells diesel at a pretty competitive price.

What time is your flight, Kojak and how long does it take to get to the airport? Hope its not some ungodly hour, the poor old McS's have to set out at 3am. :o
Still, the next night thats the time they will be getting home from a Symi gin joint. 8-)
I am about a $30 taxi ride to the airport..on a good day. :geek:

We were on the early Glasgow flight back in June and I must admit I felt a little guilty knocking back a beer and a large Whisky at 5 am in the departure lounge, at that time in the morning it's usualy my last drink of the day not the first :geek: ,Heather was a bit miffed on the plane as they had no Buck's Fizz for her to have with her breakfast, to top up the large G and T's she had in the airport.
Our flight in September is late Saturday night so I can guzzle away at the airport with no worries :| .

My flight's at 10.30 am which is a very civilised time. Things are a bit tight at Rhodes for the 18.30 ferry but I will be chewing the ear of the Olympic rep to make sure that we get to Kolonna on time. A few years ago we dawdled around the back lanes of Ixia and Ialysos until, at 18.10, I protested. We were then dumped in the wilderness until taxis arrived to do a high speed dash to the ferry which was delayed for us. I was the only one who'd been to Symi and panic set in when the rest spotted the Panormitis 10 feet away from the quayside. I had to explain that they were just making a Greek point that we were late!
