The Symi Festival programme is now on the streets and very pretty it is too, with the cover designed by Eva Geraki.

Are there pretty posters too? We managed in 1998 and 2000 to bring copies home (almost) unscathed - in simple frames they look rather good and cheer us up in the damp days of winter (and indeed of June/July 2007). I've never managed to find one since - by September they've all gone - but if this year's is an artwork I'll visit the Town Hall when we arrive and see what I can find.

Most esteemed and respected Adriana - please please please keep us a couple of posters until September. And thank you in advance. (Was that nice enough?}

We'll be in to see you and pay our subs so will collect then - arriving Wednesday 5th. Two posters in case one gets bashed - in the past we've collected toilet roll inners from all our pals to make a poster tube (ingenious? sad? you choose) but one can never guarantee success.

Sounds nice enough to me, Jan :oops:

Your posters are stashed in my book cupboard until you claim them in September. :D

Re festival poster - we tried to download the picture and print out a poster ( A4 size ) at home in UK. This was not sucessful as the print was v small, expanded it and definition was awful.

Is there anyway of obtaining a jpg so we can get a decent print ?

Merlin, if you write directly to the SV office via e- mail I'm sure they'll be helpful.

Hi Merlin,

We only have the physical posters which are way too big for our scanner (34 cm x 50 cm and the preshrunk PDF file provided by the Symi Town Hall.

For good quality printing you need at least 200 dpi. Most pictures on the internet have been 'shrunk' as there are fewer pixels per inch on the screen than there are dots to the inch on the printed page so this saves space and download time. :)

This means that something that looks full screen is about postcard size when printed! :evil:

The rest of the Symi Festival, including the World Peace Day Swim, has been cancelled due to the fires.
