GEORGE ?

Postby D and E » 26 Sep 2007, 09:04

Have just seen a last minute 7-day package offer and it is very, very tempting (since our last visit was in May).

Does anyone know where "The George" is and what it is like ?

Reads like it is in Yialos.

D and E :) The George is on the north side of Stone Street, the Roman road from Hythe to Canterbury :geek: Back in 1979, the then Landlard used to take his Alsation for a walk in the local forest during the afternoon. :) The Forester recalled meeting him one afternoon following which the landlord returned home to The George :geek: Then, as was his wont, he settled down in the winged armchair in front of the fire, with the Alsation at his feet. His wife spoke to him asking if he would like a cuppa  He responded: "Waken me up at opening time" and drifted into what was his last snooze, :!: for when his wife went to awaken him at opening time, he was stone dead :) But what a wonderful epitaph for a landlord. How wonderful to drift off thinking that you were going to be woken up at opening time :) Enjoy "The George" :o

OK - The George !

It is a great apartment and is part of the Grace Hotel : known as Georges House. It sits next door to the Grace Apartments (block of 4 where we stayed once before when the intrepid Dave was the rep) and overlooks the Grace Hotel : excellent value from Manos Holidays :)

We only had seven days this time and came back last Wednesday : best return journey we have had in terms of times of ferry : speed of check-in and time waiting to get on flight. Left Symi 09:50 and was in Cardiff Airport by 15:15 :D

One of our highlights on Symi was being caught with 8 others on Ag. Marina on the Saturday when the big storm blew in : we all had to take shelter in the small bar. But then as usual the sun came out and we all dried off and had a retsina or two as we waited for the return of the taxi boat :)

Nos was undergoing the annual "rebuild" : Dimitris is unique !

Starting to plan next May's trip : looking at Pedi this time : its what keeps us going through the winter.

Pleased it turned out well for you D and E. I'm glad your flight was ok too. Most of us left on 26th September. I was lucky as my flight left on time but other friends had horrendous delays - 7 hours on a Newcastle flight and 6 hours on a Gatwick one - not the way you want to finish your holiday!
