Easyjet -GB takeover

Postby Adriana » 25 Oct 2007, 16:14

Easyjet announced this morning that they will be taking over GB Airways and confirmed in an email from their press office to the Symi Visitor this afternoon that final details on how this will affect the Rhodes route will only be known once the takeover is finalised in March 2008.

In the meantime, have a look at http://easyjet.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/easyjet.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2491%20and%20p_created=1193297386%20and%20p_sid=8cjRi3Pi%20and%20p_accessibility=0%20and%20p_redirect=%20and%20p_lva=%20and%20p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0xNzkmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0x%20and%20p_li=%20and%20p_topview=1

Easyjet -GB takeover

Postby Jan » 26 Oct 2007, 14:35

Having already booked our next September flights (at under 100 a head return for 17 days it seemed churlish to refuse), we're hoping that Stelios (yes, I know it's not him any more) will (a) honour the booking and (b) keep the service going. The email we received made it fairly plain that it's GB Airways' Gatwick slots that were the attraction for easyJet, not necessarily their routes.

One thing I'll take bets on - September 2009 flights won't be available in October 2008.

As they will almost certainly drop any routes that are not profitable lets hope the Gatwick-Rhodes one has been a money-spinner! ;)

Indeed. The Heraklion flight is/was up to 6 days a week having started with just the two, so that must have been making money. Not sure sure about the Rhodes one.

Certainly a lot of our visitors were making use of them as it meant being able to stay for odd periods e.g 10 days and the flight times suited professional people who had to work right up to the last minute before leaving on holiday and didn't mind arriving at night.

Good news - EasyJet have honoured the GB Airways booking. No free food, but that's hardly a problem. I haven't checked current availability but if people know their dates this far ahead it's a good deal.

Thank you for that info Jan.

Must admit I've been keeping a watchful eye as I'm travelling with them in April. As you say no in-flight food isn't the end of the world....I'm sure I can manage without food for a 4 hour flight!

I bought my flight when it was just 99 which covered half the cost of my accommodation for a 3rd week on Symi....so I'm a happy bunny :) .
