I am reading it at the moment. Not the most cheerful book I have ever seen and I can't imagine that any Symiot would be terribly pleased with how they are all portrayed. I am enjoying it, though. It took me a while to see that the map was upside down. Now it makes sense.

"The Taint of Midas", the second of Anne Zouroudi's books about Hermes the Messenger deals with greed. Still five more deadly sins to cover on the Greek islands. Sounds OK to me.

We both read this during our recent visit - an excellent first novel :)

The author does portray a real feeling of place and will wait until our 2009 visit(s) before reading the first sequel.

Another book I read whilst on Symi was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson :) who unfortunately died suddenly in 2004 at the age of 50. It is the first of a trilogy with the next book due out in the UK in early 2009 but we think we saw many of the Danes who were at St. Nicholas over the last two weeks avidly reading a book by Larsson.

It is a very dark story indeed :( but very well written and translated into English.

I love a good Belinda Jones book on holiday. In Symi this year I read Out of The Blue which is set in Crete. :)

I've just finished The Lying Tongue by Andrew Wilson. Think Patricia Highsmith meets Henry James. :o

Very creepy. :D
