Hello all, (new member, old visitor!)
I seem to remember reading that the Proteus wasn`t allowed to carry foot passengers due to its age - does anyone know if this is currently the case, or can we go ahead and book tickets on it for June? - Thanks...

Its working all right. Just go in the Ferry Timetables and you can book. Symi II is going as well and the big Symi is going as tourist boat but takes passengers too. When you go to Book on Line they tell where they go from.

Can't remember if I've asked this (age...), but is there a regular ferry to Turkey from Symi?

No ferry as such, just the regular Saturday day trip to Datca. You'll have to go via Rhodes if you want to get to Turkey at any other time.

Hi Paul, the Proteus is fine. It is the Symi which you are thinking of. If it takes vehicles it can only take 12 passengers - i.e the drivers of the vehicles. This is why it is now just doing tourist trips during the summer through a company called Sea Dream.

By the way they have been allowing on board one way passengers who actually have tickets for the Symi II which is causing merry chaos for reps, taxis and passengers alike!

I've been looking at the various timetables for my arrival on the 1st. Looking at it the only ferry in the morning is Symi 2 via panormitis. Is anyone aware of an alternative, or is the Aegli going to be running this year?
