Hello BobandMay. All the taxi boats should be operating by now. Certainly, George should be running the Pedi one. Not sure how much the rate(s) are this year but I'm sure someone on here will have up to date information for you. Symi is as beautiful as ever (well it was up until June 2nd so I don't think it will have changed much). I'm sure you'll have a wonderful holiday. :)

There are a couple of nice beaches that you can easily walk to from Pedi - makes you ready for a refreshing swim whan you get there - followed by a legendary Mythos :)

You may find Mythos in short supply in places - you forget that Richard and I were there 2 weeks ago.

For those who are denied access to full bottles of Mythos, obviously as a consequence of Kojak's visit(s) you can always adjourn to a place about half way up the hill from Pedi to Chorio and ask if you can be permitted to drain the dregs from the empties in the crates there

Just arrived back from Symi this morning and I am happy to repert that Mythos stocks were back up to pre Kojak levels by last week , I did try and get them down a bit but I am an amateur in Mythos consumption compared to the legendery K

Meant to say I don't know what the Pedi taxi boat is charging but the Yialos to Ag. Marina or Ay. Nicholas fare on the Irini/ Konstantin boats was 8.5 Euro last week

My apologies to Peterv, I can report that his efforts to reduce the Mythos stocks were considerable to say the least! :D

bobandmay - sorry to be so late in replying : George was charging 5 euro return from Pedi to St Nicks when we were there in the first week of May (that long ago !!). Not long before we will be getting the 5 euro notes out again for the trip in September - have a great time :D

Drats - can't find my walks on Symi book so as a quick query - can a walk be done between Pedi and San Marina and how long a walk is it? Daughter and myself intend to walk more this holiday. Bought the walk book but have for the moment well and truly put it somewhere 'safe'

Yes - easy peasy walk and takes no time at all. Past the new 'marina'; keep going up a well-trodden path; over the col and down into Agia Marina. Spend your water taxi fare on a beer or two instead 8-)

[/quote]Good advice Jan. :D

Lance Chilton claims it's about a 30 minute walk from the kiosk (now a 'supermarket') in Pedi and that seems about right. There is no shade though so remember to take a bottle of water Snoopy.

Try the non-easy-peasy version: Past the windmills around the other side of Noulia:

...and down to Aghia Marina:

...views are beyond stunning; also you may get to see a sheep.

It's a bit of an effort, though we did it last year when the temp was hitting 40. Just take it slooooowly, and take plenty of water.

Good - good - will raise a glass of Mythos when we get there. When you say bit of an effort Snapperjon is that due to heat or hill? I am not good on hills.

Both, Snoopy! You have to climb, go down a little and then up and over! The path is well marked but it does require more effort than the Pedi-Marina path.

The path is well marked, Snoopy, From the place where the bus stops at the top, before it starts to go down onto the Pedi road, just walk up, following the line of the Windmills. Walk up past the stone circle/burial mound. Follow the dots on the stones!

We got a great map from the newsagent by the harbour last year, Snoopy. Contour marked, well laid out on non-tear something-or-other.

On the back they have brief trail notes. This is the nearest I've seen to a British OS map.

You can get them for 7 from here:
