I doubt if Lazy Days would be big enough for Signor Berlusconi's bits on the side...

MacDuff I forgive you this once for taking my name in vain...hope everyone is all ok after all the storms which we have all suffered, including us having to do some fast clearing of all the drains where all the rubbish comes down the hill leaves, twigs etc. outside our property and over the road(the councils job which they only do once in a while if ever) - are they going to get it in the neck on Monday morning) as we were about to flood just what I needed - NOT. Still we managed it by the skin of our teeth and the flood area was then allowed to do its work (the drains take all the excess water and flood the field opposite a designated area)- typical they spend nearly 2million on flood defence work only for a few leaves to undo it all and the cutbacks of of our councils cleaning regime.Grrrrrrr..but at least today the sun is shining for a while anyway...

But I digressed from the Lazy Days subject - I do have some old pictures of the boat when she was in service around Symi we were even on it all those years ago I will get his lordship to hunt them down in the loft sift through 29 years worth of pictures - this could take me sometime methinks) - A Belgium man owned it with another man who I thought was a Symiot and I believe they still do but have not paid the Boat yard for work done so they the boat yard are in a catch 22 situation...they cannot dispose of it because they don't own it...it is a funny old world...

I do hope your slave is able to trace the photos, Poppet. I'd love to see the lovely old thing in its pomp (no, not you Kojak).

Wonder what the yard bill is?

Well I hope they never manage to resolve their differences because the boat yard just wouldn't be the same without lovely old Lazy Days sitting proudly if somewhat shabbily there...I just wish the old green Symi bus had been placed somewhere where those of us who have fond memories of it could glance lovingly and think to ourselves "ahh those were the days"....last I saw of it at the bend on the road going out of Yialos, it was a sorry state and I felt quite sad to see something which for me at least was a unique symbol of Symi, disgarded like it never had a history there. Look forward to seeing the photos Poppet :)

Oh and snapperjon, I've seen the other lovely old thing in it's pomp on many occasion ;) !

Yes Maizie, you are correct about the Olde Greene Bus. I have a good photograph of it tucked away somewhere, I wonder how many miles it achieved over the years. Oh and Poppet, thanks for forgiving me

Don't know about the rest of you old (Symi)timers, but I'm hopeful that the curse of the all inclusive holiday will never reach Symi. Just let us do what we want,go where we want and eat where we want whenever we want. Ochi to all inclusive :?

I know "Lazy Days" haven't been in Harni for that long, but look at the big ship in the yard. Is this her before a major rebuild?

(I have collected a few old images on my Flicker site, feel free:

Ola - that collection of pictures is really good. I particularly like the first one - don't fancy that way of boarding the ferry with my holiday luggage (and I travel light!) to cope with.

What a fine collection of old pictures Ola. Any idea of the age of them? Most appear to be from the 20s and 30s I guess?

Wow. They are amazing photos. If only this website had an archive section for Symi past and present it would be so interesting. I'm sure many long standing Symi visitors have old photos of the area and the locals.Symi as it is today is so full of character and beauty but to see these old photos really captures the imagination. I suppose they reveal to us the Symi we can al see and feel in spite of modernisation.
