Questionnaire about Symi visitors

I'm not sure how helpful my contribution was because the first time I visited was in the Jurassic era well before the internet existed. :D

As KOjak I'm not sure if my contribution is helpful at all.
No internet back when I first came to Symi

Not in the Jurassic era as Kojak, but a few years later.. Must have been around the Cretaceous are ;)

Done, but an awful lot of the survey assumes that the web played a significant part in our decision to visit Symi for the first time. Which it didn't.

Questionnaire about Symi visitors

Postby Gemma1 » 12 Oct 2012, 08:34

I've completed it but like the others not sure how helpful it is as I didn't even have a computer, let alone the internet, when I first visited Symi on a day trip in 1991. It just seemed like a nice place to go for a day trip from Lindos :) If it asked how much the internet had influenced me to return that would be a different story - I'm still trying to find a way to crawl through the webcam from this side ;)

I've completed the survey as best I can but my first visit was 1995 with Laskarina Holidays and I'm afraid the Internet didn't influence me then. It's different now as I use it all the time Good luck with your masters thesis I hope the other respondents are more use than me.

Questionnaire about Symi visitors

Filled in questionaire but dont think it will help. First went to Symi in mid 1980,s.so internet had no influence whatsoever.
Went on a day trip from Rhodes. I fI remember correctly the boat was called "The Ark" or something like that. 8-)

Just as many others have remarked, the Internet had no influence on our first visit to Symi. Now, however, it's great to be able to have a 'Symi fix' via this site or Symi Dream and keep up to date with what's going on.

Youngsters won't know what I'm talking about but several years after my first visit I was an analyst programmer. The Govt. mainframe computer was programmed by punched cards... :D

Know exactly what you mean, Kojak. We still have a box of those (un)punched cards - they make excellent shopping lists! And I remember that at our wedding my husband's colleagues used those minute bits that were punched out of said cards as confetti. They found their way into hems of clothes, every part of the car etc etc. Took years to get rid of them!

I was going to suggest he washed up at Panormitis Monastery in a bottle, but thought it might be misinterpreted.
