Hotels Up or Down ?

Has anyone got any Hotel recommendations for the second half of my Symi holiday. l've only booked the first 5 nights down in the harbour, and wondered whether to carry on staying at the Albatros..or stay somewhere nice up the steps . You all seem to stay in Apartments, but l'd rather stay in an hotel, probably max 80 a night. Any suggestions ?

If you want a hotel in the Village you have a choice of two: The Village Hotel who, as far as I know, don't have a website though their phone number is 22460 71800 or Hotel Fiona

Of the two I'd definitely recommend the Fiona. Call them direct or better still talk to Wendy and Adriana at Symi Visitor who can discuss prices and book the hotel for you.

The other alternative (not actually a hotel) is Taxiarchis Apartments. I stayed there when visiting (2006-2010) and there are plenty of repeat visitors who always go there.....

Taxiarchis is very good. Frank and his wife make you very welcome. It is also only a short walk from the bus stop and the road for taxis.

All up. The Fiona and the Village Hotel are right in the heart of the village, the Fiona has fantastic harbour views and the Taxiarchis is only slightly less central, with Pedi views instead.

The webcam was certainly Ok a couple of hours ago when I watched the Blue Star Diagoras and a cruise ship getting in each others way.
Panagia Skiadeni is due to arrive in 10 minutes, being big and painted mostly orange it will show up if things are as they should be.

I won't reach Symi again until mid-October, I usually travel to Symi when the season is just finishing or just starting as my friends who live there have time to talk instead of working flat out.

And Panagia Skiadeni is just arriving on the webcam, so I'm afraid the problem is with your web browser. Which one are you using?

The Hotel Fiona is Excellent. We are staying there for 2 weeks starting next tuesday having spent 10 days there last year. The views from the rooms are fabulous. I don't know how much they charge for a single but a double room is 60 Euros including breakfast. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Thnx AndyW and Anton. l've emailed them all to get a price per night for just me. So far, Lapetos Village is 100 per night for a single in a room. Just thought it might be nice to stay up top for the second half of my holiday..Specially as Kojak the Celebrity will be there ! lol ;)
