Hi everyone, just thought I'd ask for people's recommendations of where to stay for one night in Rhodes before morning ferry. Hope to get some Symi chat going . :D

I think most Symi guests use the Plaza.

Hi Lisa,
Hermes and Lydia (Lidia?) have also been popular, but it's been a while since I've heard any one talk about them.

I appreciate that Lisa.

Personally, I'm a creature of habit and have used the Plaza for many years. It's good, the management have links to Symi and I've been going so long that many of the staff recognise me, despite only stopping for one night, which is nice.

:X

Hi Allan, I think we'll book the Plaza, to get the full Symi experience. ;) Our flight is that late we'll only be there a to sleep!

We have had late flights for years and our standard routine (Except for 2020 when the Covid restrictions changed everything) is to check-in, book an early morning call, drop the cases in the room and then proceed to the bar for that important "first beer".

The early morning call is important so we don't miss the excellent breakfast. ;)

Think it'll be midnight when we get to Plaza so straight to bed I reckon. Yep definitely Plaza for us this year then.

This might be a bit late (I've rather got out of the habit of reading the Chat - must get back to it) but last year we stayed overnight in an Airbnb 10 minutes walk downhill to the commercial harbour, where the Skiadeni docks, and only a few blocks from the walls of the Old Town.

It was a huge apartment with a very pleasant host - from the reviews people have obviously stayed for a week or more, and given what you got in terms of space I can see why. The outside isn't terribly prepossessing (on a narrow and slightly scruffy lane) but for a less-than-12-hour stay at less than half the cost of the Plaza that really didn't matter. There are small food places close by if you arrive in time for a drink and a souvlaki.

I'm intending to book there for our September trip but will happily find and send you the details if you're interested. Just leave the night of 6 September free!

We've often used the Plaza but gave Lydia a go last year. Although not in the same league as the Plaza it was absolutely fine for an overnight stay.

We usually arrive in time for a late dinner and thoroughly recommend the Niohori It's a traditional family run taverna, a hidden gem in the back streets but always crowded. The family also own the butcher's across the street so meat is always fresh. Take a look on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Niohorirestaurant/

Hi Jan, Happy New Year to you and Barry, I've also got out of the habit of reading the Chat Page.
Think it's to do with no Adrianna or Symi Dream input!
Pam & I will be on Symi the week prior to you in Sept this year, but we can catch up during our final & your first week.
Had a call from Olympic recently, to inform us that they had signed up with The Nireus for 2024 and did we wont to
book a sea view room as usual!!
We have taken up this offer( never been so early before!) from 11/09/24 to 25/09/24.
No overnight in Rhodes for us as we leave LGW @0530 withASL France, no I've never heard of 'em either!!

Hi Lisa

The Airbnb we used is the Alexander Apartments. I haven't checked that it's listed this year but we left with the host saying cheerily 'see you next September' so it seems likely.

Certainly worth consideration if you just want somewhere clean, quiet and comfortable (and very cheap) to lay your head overnight.

Hi Peter (and Pam too of course)

All noted and looking forward to seeing you both in September. Keep well in the meantime. (I won't mention the football - oops, I just have).

Hi Jan, thank you for your recommendation, just checked the date we wanted and it's not available. Back to the drawing board.

Now I think about it, the host told us she lets to university students during term time then opens up for visitors once the kids go home. If you were looking for June that might be the reason.

When are you travelling?

You've got me sufficently worried to book our own stay even though we're not going till early September.
