Down time

Postby Joe Le Taxi » 12 Feb 2017, 21:18

Heard all of the questions over the years about what it's like in Symi in winter. Well, now I know. We decided to pay a surprise visit to Jenine(Olive Tree Cafe). As it turned out it was young Harry's name day also. We could hear the celebrations going on as we came up to Agia Thanasi church. The look of astonishment on Jenine's face was worth the long trip from Glasgow. As it was out of season, there were no direct flights so it was Glasgow-London-Athens-Rhodes,overnight in the Plaza and the ferry over to Symi.So far we've had 16-17 degrees on the first two days but today Sunday it's been chilly and windy and 13 degrees.Rest of the week, ditto. Not many shops or restuarants open at this time of year but enough to get by with.
Today we went down to Pedi and had a nice picnic. It was strange walking through the valley and seeing green grass and wild Cyclamen everywhere. Normally it's dry and dusty when we venture there as we will do this coming June but, winter or summer Symi is still the place to be.

That was sneaky of you Joe! Turning up unannounced like that, you're lucky Jenine didn't faint :D

It's good to hear about Symi out of season. Do please try to get some pictures of a sunny green Symi to cheer us up in the depths of the UK winter.
