I feel sorry for those who arrived last night, after a long journey they wake up to torrential rain. (Really chucking it down here in Symi this morning.)

When the forecast said 100% chance of rain they certainly meant it this time.

Just checked the long range forecast and it looks as though there will an improvement for the weekend :D

and more of the same thereafter.

Here in Melbourne we have the hottest day on record for October with current temp at 36 deg.But keep in mind our heat intensity is far greater than Europe, that makes it very hot eg,your 40-45 deg is like our 30-35.

Yeah, but tomorrow, Kon, you'll be in muffs and mittens. :P

I thought you'd be telling our northern friends about the Eureka Tower.
The worlds tallest residential building at 92 stories, 3680 stairs, 52,000sqm of windows and 300m high.
Kon, if I remember there was debate over the shadow it would cast, obviously thats been sorted out and vast tracts of the city are now in shadow for parts of the day.
On the other hand, it would not be much of a bother as its rarely sunny in "BleakCity".

Never could understand why anyone would want to live/work that far off the ground! :(

Piddling down again. Nice and cosy in the office though, looking out at the yachts pulling out for the day. Can't say I look back with nostalgia on the days when I too was paddling round on the deck in oilies, clutching sodden warps with numb fingers and trying to hear the yells of the skipper above the howls of the storm...

The wind is picking up and the sky is absolutely black over towards Orhaniye.

The Aegli didn't come in this morning but the Symi is coming in at 13.00. The Ilion has already deposited a boatload of damp and despondent day trippers so the waterfront cafes should be busy. :geek:

Just like my family Mille.
Dad always said he got seasick under the shower.
I get seasick walking on a wet lawn...except when I'm on Symi1. :(

I must say here in Colchester it has been a lovely warm Autmn day with lots of people eating out in the garden. I sold out of my Irish stew within an hour so folks are girding their loins for winter.
I hope we get as much snow here as you did on Symi last year,

We had guests round for dinner last night and for the first time since May we had a round the kitchen table farmhouse supper instead of a BBQ in the garden. I made a big beef and mushroom pie and my father made a large pan of baked vegetables, a bit like briam but with layers of bacon and grated parmesan on top. Very cosy with rain drumming on the roof.

It was clear to us on our last night (Tuesday 10th) that the weather was changing - the best barometer on the island (Yani's chairs in the Rainbow) were at plastic : never a good sign.
