Australia is experiencing a strange weather climate in my part of town there is no water ,we currently can not water gardens at all and cars can not be washed ,in Ozzie Geoff side of town there a huge cyclone going through western Australia and in Sydney well lets put it this way people are starting to build Arks.Current temp about 30c at 9pm and we too are having wild winds.
According to the Danish Weather Service it's the mildest and warmest winter ever recorded. This time last year, the garden was covered in 20 cm of snow, today our hedge think it's spring, full of buds ready to burst It's about 4 degrees and grey- ish
The weather here alternates between dull with lots of wind and bright with lots of wind. It's in bright mode today.
Still warm for the time of year though. It's been below freezing on only a couple of occasions so far this winter and it's currently a balmy eight degrees.
Do you think it's too early to get the barbeque out?
As I look out of my kitchen window, the rose bushes are in full bloom as are the fuschias. If this is winter then I think I may just be able to handle it!!!
Kon in Sydney we don't need an Ark. I wish. We had on huge down pour and that was it. We are still able to water our gardens at the moment but how long will that last? Hope coping ok with the heat and the smoke/fires stll around. Off camping on Australia Day weekend and that's when the rain is due of course.
The real winter has arrived at last, after months of rain and wind the snow has come, 2 inches in the last 2 hours if it keeps on all night I may be snowed in and not able to get to work in the morning
Hi Chrisanthy, we are not doing too well with the fires and water at the momment yesterday Melbourne lost power because one of the fires triped an emergency fuse cos the fires were too close ,it was caos shops ,restaraunts and other business were forced to shut and throw food supplies out ,kids benefited with free icecream, traffic was crazy ,it got to 41 yesterday today at 8.30am it was 31 ,we still water plants but lawns are off limits as are washing cars etc.Have a great time camping sounds good
We've had so little rain on Symi this winter I'm giving the bath and washing up water to the wildflowers in the hope that they survive long enough to flower and seed themselves for next year.
On TV last night they were showing bears in Moscow zoo waking up from hibernation because they think it is spring - in mid January.
It's pretty weird here also. One day the air-con is on full bore, the next a doona is on the bed. My friend in Sweden is mushrooming in "spring" weather. The snow field operators in Austria are wringing their hands. Melbourne, commonly known as "bleak city" is experiencing devastating bushfires and temperatures in the 40s. With the huge slabs falling off the ice-caps one really wonders what the hell is going on..
Phew. Generally this obsession with climate change just wears me out. Just too suspicious of too many 'experts' with too many vested interests to jump this band wagon which now so often seems more like a good excuse to grab more and more of our hard earned money via taxation and controlling our lives, especially in the UK. Well today the view out of MY window is very typically English, blowing a gale and pouring with rain. A good day to stay home. Now I'm off to clean the bathroom whilst we've still got running water.
