It's so windy today Rhodes airport was closed this morning! A planeload of school kids on a trip from Athens had to turn back as it was not possible to land. :o

The Proteus made it back last night but was unable to load any vehicles or freight as the swell was too bad in Rhodes harbour for the vehicle ramp to be lowered safely.

So much for spring! :?:

Well Adriana the weather here in the south UK has been marvellous for a couple of weeks. Days of glorious sunshine until yesterday when we had gales, snow and sleat and boy was it cold, but the sun's back today. But very cold. |Yesterday it was 43 in London against 63 in Rhodes. So just think yourself jolly lucky! Were the school kids travelling on to Symi?

I'm due to fly into Rhodes on Sunday evening and hoping to catch a ferry to Symi on Monday!

You are lucky Anthony. It seems that I have to stay on Rhodes from Wednesday to Friday waiting for the boat. I am not sure I will try to swim this time of the year.

The harbour is still wall-to-wall boats but there is talk that the Proteus may be able to leave later this afternoon, once the swell drops in Rhodes harbour. It's dripping mud rain at the moment.

Love the picture of Proteus Adriana. The low angle makes it look huge and almost graceful. :D

Have you looked at the Dodekanisos Seaways timetable? (http://www.12ne.gr) They seem to have both ships running and, unlike ANES, have a Rhodes-Symi (and Symi-Rhodes) trip scheduled every day.

Yes I have looked, but they are not going on thursdays. Coming with a plane wednesday at 4 pm I cannot catch the wednesday ferry, so I have to enjoy myself on Rhodes until friday morning. I booked several month ago and there were the scedules not available. Well, I'll spend some time shopping or sitting on the beach looking at Symi in the distance
