It has now disappeared from the harbour. We were told a few weeks ago that it would be in service 'in a few days'...!

I know the feeling Joanie. My short legs find it difficult climbing in and out!! Must have been torture for poor Lakis seeing his nice new bus sitting there and he couldn't drive it :( . Hope it is up and running soon. Looking forward to having a wee shot in it in September if it is on the road by then :D .

One of the things I really love about Symi is the current bus. Yes it's difficult to get on and off of it but it's got so much character.

When waiting for a bus from Oxford....in the pouring rain...to my native Thame, how I wished it was the rather more reliable Symi bus I was waiting for.

Yes Maz i agree with you, about wishing you were on it instead of your local bus at home. Also Lakis is very reliable always on time as you say :) :) :)

It's here! :D It's here! :D And five minutes after I put a picture of it up on my diary page it trundled past me and up the hill with Sakis at the wheel.

Very cautiously mind you - he was picking his way through the post-ferry juggernauts. :)

Coincidentally, as you were uploading your picture I was washing my Symi flip-flops.

Just as well, I wouldn't be allowed on the shiny new bus with mucky feet! :(

It is a useful metallic colour that doesn't show the dust too readily.

The new bus looks very posh. Although looking forward to having a wee shot in it, I will miss clambering in and out of the old green bus, hanging on for grim death trying to keep my balance when standing, sticking to the grey plastic seats, etc. etc. Happy days. :( In fact I've changed my mind bring back the old green bus :D

What will happen to the old bus? will it join the Bus Grave yard in Pedi? Perhaps they could be the start of the Symi Vintage Bus club.

Oooooooh, Kojak - no wonder Mummy swooned under Cleethorpes pier ! What a striking chappie, you were. Now, about the encroachment of socks to match both the increase in waist and decrease of hair ! :D

Aaaah! The old green bus - remember well being at the Giallos stop and on my back underneath the off-side front wheel arch with a spanner in my hand whilst Lakis was using a big screwdriver on the opposite end of the securing bolts to remove the "flip-up seat" from the doorway in order to get it re-covered !

I earned my Mythos that day - and Gail spent 10 minutes wondering about the damage to the M and S polo shirt - no worries about my gravel-rash, of course !
