BUS

Although I tend to walk, I did take a couple of rides on THE REAL SYMI BUS prior to it's retirement. :D I also took a photograph and will now treasure it. :) Can't say I approve of the colour change  During the fabulous Clean Up Symi evening, I was appointed to help clean up from the windmills down to the Pedi road. :o So we had to scatter at intervals as the old bus trundled past with a smiling Lakis at the wheel :geek: The Clean Up Symi operation was both huge fun and a great success with "dancing in the dark" on the square afterwards aided by copious quantities of wine. :geek: Well done the committee :)

were you ever on the previous bus with fingers wedged into roof air vents for stabilisation?[quote="MrsMcS"]

Whatever happened to Lakis's new bus?

BUS

The new bus looks very nice but as I've said before, I really loved the old green one  . It got so by I could recognise the sound of it coming along the harbour road below my apartment long before I could see it  .

But I agree with McDuff about the colour, it doesn't seem quite in keeping with the character of the island. Apologies to anyone out there who has a silver vehicle (I do actually like silver) but it would be nice to ring the changes although perhaps it's only the UK that seems awash with it.

Anyway I guess as an occasional visitor, I have no right to criticise since obviously it provides a very usefull service to the islanders and that's what really counts. I hope they get many happy years of service out of it :)

Know what you mean about the sound of the old green bus, you colud tell the differnce in the time of day by the noise of the exhaust as it climbed the hill from Pedi. Heavily loaded as the sun worshipers returned from the beach. The end of the season was always good for a leak or 2 in the pipes and joints to add the noise.
