Seriously Busy

It is the busiest week in the year and Symi is packed. :o

The hotels are full :D , the harbour is full, the ferries are packed and there isn't a taxi to be found  . The phones have been ringing non stop with desparate people still hoping for a room.

Plenty of rooms available in Leeds this weekend, but we would rather be on Symi in the sunshine than Leeds with the forcast there.

Plenty of rooms in Athens, Paris, Milan and Rome too!

Don't think the office will give me time off though to go sightseeing! ;)

Just read the online version of RODIAKI news paper and it was saying how busy it was in Symi that you cant even drop a pin in the harbour from all the boats in the harbour, perhaps now they might see a way of allowing a large vessel from Pireus to stop over at Symi too. They also scored some medical stuff for the Doctor on Symi Cardiograghy machine i think.Good to see the Island is doing well.

Maybe the docking at Yialos could be extended by shipping in the Wigan Pier :o Some of us are aware of a potential agent to organize the transaction - lives near Preston

I don't know where Wigan pier is located as I've never been to Wigan! Despite my well-fed appearance I apparently don't eat enough pies to qualify for admittance! :P Our revered webmaster lives much nearer, but judging by his racing snake silhouette, he hasn't eaten enough pies either!

We visited Wigan Pier on a canal boat holiday having read Orwell's "Road to Wigan Pier" as a bit of background....heavy going read but it is a nice wee place done up as a tourist attraction if you like that sort of thing.

I think my olde pal Kojak would feel more at home with
the Cleesthorpe Pier. :o

Private joke, folks, I don't think any of you have been participants long enought to know the story.
Maybe Sorella and Mille.. ;)

Just remember, Cleethorpe Pier sticks out into the waters of the Humber Estuary, probably still the most poluted river mouth in the country. From the air you can see the dark brown stain as it enters the North Sea. The other fearure or the pier is that for 10 out of 12 hours in a full tide the water receeds and it is left high and dry. Sometimes it makes you wonder if the Victorians built the piers in the wrong place.
