Fairies of Symi

I was interested to read about the Aloystines, the Fairies of Symi, who turn up when people are walking along the paths in August. Be prepared with the right answers and behaviour if you meet them. They sound much more fun than ginger turkeys.

Why have we not been warned of these creatures before?

What a nice thought, friendly fairies frolicking on the footpaths :D Perhaps they can cajole the fearsome Pedi valley ginger turkey into a somewhat better attitude to visitors in May :) Despite my recent sighting of 242 species of birds in Africa, not one could equate with that Pedi beast. I hope it gets trussed and devoured for Christmas :o

Now we know what happened at Culloden, Macduff! It wasn't Butcher Cumberland - it was Butcher Turkey with Cumberland sauce! :P

Nice thought Kojak - getting up the ginger turkey's kilt :?: Perhaps I should have addressed the brute in German, which was I believe the usual language used by Cumberland as well as his brother George Hannover 111. :geek:

Interesting battle at Culloden. Apparently there were more Scots fighting for Herr Cumberland than for Wee Charlie!

He's the little green running man on the white sign above that strange-looking feller in a ginger wig with a red snooker ball buried in his head.

Fairies in Symi I never saw any. And, I practically lived there going back and forth as I did. I do have a story that you might read about the Eloustines. Actually the story about Eloustines came to me from my aunt Zopeee pronounced zo pee ee
Her son has that lovely hotel restaurant next to the post office and facing the sea.

Mmmmm....very thought prevoking!!!

Having attended a couple of Koukoumas festivals on Symi I never got the feeling there was anything sinister about them.....or have I just completely misunderstood something?

Wonderful to see you trying hard to be properly dressed Kojak 8-) Yes, Lots of Scots fought for the "British" army  I imagine that they included Broon's forebears, for I understand that he is endeavoring to promote "Britishness". :? I have a mental picture of "British" at a table eating British haggis, neeps and mashed tatties washed down with copious volumes of British Shepherd Neame beer and topped off with British whisky. :geek: On the table is a vase of British roses (red and white) :) There is a "Happy Holidays" card with a picture of the minarets of Bradford and a greeting from the Archbishop of York :D
