i imagine all restaurants will have a card machine ? i will also have euros for the smaller buys.

Sometimes they might not be working or have no signal...St Nics Beach taverna has said no cards the last couple of years.

Cards have massively increased in usage but we still get the feeling that cash is king.

Not on food but on the more expensive purchases a better price can be negotiated in cash as these card transaction providers can add charges that must mount up for the businesses.

Also we always tip in cash and that includes here in the UK.
