Here we go again .....
But let starts with a couple of thank you's.
Thank you Gemma for getting us in the mood for Symi a week early.
And thanks to the wonderful couple from the Manchester area who we met on the Blue Star and were so kind about previous blogs. Hope you are enjoying yourselves in the Pedi Beach Hotel and there have been no luggage mishaps - that recollection did make us laugh
So the journey over - Tuesday / Wednesday (Part 1)
As previously reported we chose to use a one way hire for the journey to Gatwick so that was picked up in Aberystwyth at 08:00. Home, get the cases in the boot, capture Greyam the cat and we were on the road by 09:00. We had to take a slight detour to Newcastle Emlyn to leave Greyam in our reserve Cattery. He was amongst a lot of cool looking cats all relaxing to piped classical music - it is some Cattery.
A coffee stop at Pont Abraham and then carry out sushi and a prawn sandwich for lunch from M&S Express at Reading Services Saw us having a straightforward run down the M4, M25 and M23 arriving Gatwick by 16:00. Filled the car with fuel, returned it to South Terminal and took the monorail to North Terminal and checked in Sofitel before having a celebratory glass or two of fizz in the bar.
As we were on the 05:30 EasyJet flight the following morning we were able to check-in after 20:00 so we did that at the auto-check-in desks and then headed for the Brasserie which is one of the main reasons we return to the Sofitel time after time.
(Now D is writing this at 19:15 on the balcony as the sun goes down and E is calling that it's my turn to hit the shower before we head to our bar of choice in Yialos so Part 2 of the journey over and Day 1 on the island with sized photos will follow in the morning - the suspense !!!)
