Memories of Symi

Postby OuVrou » 27 Nov 2006, 10:36

I have only visited Symi once (dare I admit it?). It was August 2002 and my son and I stayed at the Hotel Nireus. We had a beautiful room with a balcony facing the sea but what made the stay so special was the staff at the hotel and a young male receptionist in particular. One Saturday evening we arrived back from our meal and stroll and there was a wedding reception on the terrace of the hotel. The bridegroom was the young man's uncle. He was SO good looking and from (I think) Australia. His bride was American and such a wonderful effervescent character. We were invited to join in the celebrations and share the wedding cake. The dancing was just spectacular and so moving when the granny joined in too. It was a truly memorable evening among many of the happy experiences we enjoyed on Symi.

Lovely story - sums up Symi in a way !

Glad you enjoy your stay - it's that kind of thing that makes life worthwhile in this sometimes horrible world !

Even the 'big' hotels on Symi are small enough for no one to be a stranger. :D
