Hi everyone,

I'll be returning to Symi in September and just can't wait to get there.

I want to do some fishing again but this time for some bigger fish. Either shore or from a boat.

Can anyone advise on suitable tackle to take and methods etc?

Also are there any boats to take a visitor rod and line fishing?

Cheers,

Alan.

Hi Alan, there is a great variety of fish around the harbour, mullet travelly and good size too. I noticed the guy who runs the canteen from the ship "SYMI" catch this beautiful size Mullet of the harbour before we left last year and he bought it aboard the ship. My cousin goes Spear fishing near Symi

Off shore if you are lucky there is Dolphin fish which are caught on fresh squid or fresh whiting.

Good luck ;)

Just ask around if any of the locals would like to take you out fishing,. They're all looking for an excuse to get out there.

Good advice, Hilarias. We see it happen every summer - chance encounters at the cafeneion leading to fishing trips and the like. :D

Thanks guys. Guess I'll just come with a variety of gear and see if I can 'bribe' one of the local fishing guys. LOL
