Has anyone on the Forum used these apartments for an overnight stay en route to/from Symi?

TravelRepublic offer them at a ridiculously low price and as we arrive late evening and will - as long as the Dodek timetable doesn't change - be leaving early in the morning, almost anywhere will do as long as it's clean and quiet-ish. Last year we used the Silvia, which was brilliantly situated for a quick walk downhill to the commercial harbour, but their rates this year would make a much bigger hole in our ouzo budget than the Panorama even with a taxi fare factored in.

We were considering these apts this year but as we were arriving very late we decided to stick with the Carina hotel as we know where it is and where to get a late night meal close to the hotel, but the Panorama looked nice and they were about the same price as the Carina

Thanks, both. Now to have a look at the Carina.

Willie - was it easy to get a taxi from there to the harbour?

Jan no problem the reception desk will call you a taxi and it usualy arrives within a few minutes fare to the harbour for the Dodecanese was 7 euros in June this year, the Carina is in the new town about 100 metres from the west beach and about 200 metres from the Swedish bakery / cafe and the Chinese burger king I wouldn't want to stay there for a whole week but for a 1 night stopover on the way to Symi it's fine and we have managed to get an acceptable meal in the bars or restaurants within a 2 minute walk of the hotel up to about 1am and the Swedish cafe is open all night I think

Stay at the Best Western Plaza for 55'ish euro's per night.

Triton Tours Rhodes has other specials and the best rates I've found...

The cost at the Carina in June this Year was 20 Euros B and B for 2 and while I will grant you that the Plaza is a better class of hotel we were only there for 8 or 9 hours between flight and ferry and 35 euros just about covers the ferry fares for 2 and the taxi to the harbour.

Great, thanks. Now we just keep our fingers crossed (for 5 weeks) that nothing changes with the Dodek timetable, that no-one goes on strike, that the flight arrives on time...
