Oh dear... my sister and her husband havs booked a holiday on symi next year. We will have to keep a low profile so they do not get "corrupted" by maz and Kojak.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Olympic Snoopy, must say I'd be very disappointed if I booked for Symi and had to spend my first night in Faliraki
I've travelled independently to many Greek islands but only with Olympic to Symi as I couldn't do it myself for the same price. I paid 335 for my recent stay at the Anastasia which included the supplement for the one bedroomed apartment - goodness knows how much a one bedroomed apartment for one person would cost if I'd booked it independently but I suspect almost as much as my full package price. Couldn't really fault Olympic with the transfer on the way out but agree it's not ideal on the return. As I've done it before I just followed everyone else from the ferry to the coach and from there to the International Hotel. The coach driver didn't seem to count how many passengers he had so I think it was more good luck than good management that everybody was on board. The International Hotel isn't easy to find (I got lost trying to find my way back after shopping in Rhodes town on a previous trip  ) and the lady next to me almost walked into the wrong hotel as she presumed it was the first hotel we came to. I think the only way round this would be to get a rep to meet you at the harbour and escort you safely to the hotel but I guess with it being transfer day they don't have one spare. Luckily there are a lot of repeat travellers to Symi who know what they're doing (Kojak and Colette were on my return flight)I'm not sure what would happen if everybody on the transfer was a first time visitor to Symi :?:

First timers get left on the harbour front. Lucky for them my daughter and myself were there!!! When you are next on Symi - ask around there are many properties on Symi that people have or know about and i have a pile of e mails for accomodation that is reasonable and gives Olympic a run for their money. Probably using one person i have met three times on the island as their property is free the week my daughter and myself want to be on Symi and ties in with our onward journey to Kastellarizo. Lots of properties also have their e mail and contact details pinned up outside. Regular visitors can suss how comfortable these places will be and in one instance i was shown the whole appartment. Next time you are on Symi Gemma 1 - go for it - i think you will be pleasantly surprised what you can find.
