Tor Air has many of the same senior management and investors that XL and Viking did.
XL and Viking both went bust leaving large debts, lots of staff unpaid and some people without their flights.
In both cases the airlines went bust in September.

There's absolutely no evidence that history will repeat itself, but given that competitors exist, why take the risk?

:D Thanks Andy - had done a bit more digging and did see same owners as XL and Viking. Haven't got a choice sorry to say - booked with Greek Options and Tor are their carriers. Up side is there does appear to be more good reports than bad and this year a shorter flight so here's hoping! Thanks for the reply.

At least as part of a package the tour operator is responsible for sorting out any problems caused by airlines going bust, so you should be OK whatever happens.
For independent travellers you should make sure you have a travel insurance policy that includes cover against airline failures. Check if any airlines are specifically excluded from the cover - often some are, which ones are varies from time to time. In fact asking insurers if you would be covered were you to book with airline X is s good way to find out the degree of risk - they do so hate having to actually pay out......
