Just had my first bike ride for 4 months, with my grandson, managed 34 miles with some hills, around Walton and Belsay, North of Newcastle. It was bitter cold, but we were well wrapped up.

I took advantage of a rare dry day and had a wander around Kirkham. Pretty soon I wished I'd had a little woolly hat for my little woolly head...

That's a decent walk, Olga as you have hills there and back.

Called at the allotment yesterday, loads of glass to replace on greenhouse. Pulled all the old brasica stalks, there was no sprouts or leaves left, either rats and squirrels had picked them off clean or birds, I do not know which. Next visit will be to weed all the beds and manure. The garden association has its new stock of seed potatoes for sale, so I will get some for planting later.

:o Wow mr wotsin - you are ahead of the game. I too was at my allotment at the weekend but the ground is far to wet to work and up here we don't think of planting tatties until about May!!!! Greenhouse survived - shed didn't - it was flooded. Lots of flooding going on up here! Becuase we are next the sea i dig in seaweed. spread it - leave the salt to leech out then dig in - wonderful stuff and all free! :)

Just heard the seed taties were available at 1.00 per kilo, first come first served. I was flooded a lot of last year, had to remove the wood aprons around the hut as it was standing in water and soaking it up, could not get the door open. Replaced wood with bricks, gave the rest of the hut a chance to dry out. Also keep the rats out, they ate all my cucumbers last year while I was in Symi in September. Broke some more soil up yesterday and weeded. No planting for a while, no heat in greenhouse, people with heat starting their leeks. Can not decide whether to replace timbers and glass or to revamp and make it a single plastic sloping roof.

First blossom is showing on the cherry tree, and some of last year's sweet peas seem to have survived, daffs are in bud - we may get early flowers! Ground still too wet to do much, but drying slowly. Elaine is muttering about getting out there, so I better look for somewhere to hide...

I still have a drift of snow against the bank in my allotment, so I've done a lot of wandering around, and muttering, and tidying the shed, I call it planning!!!

Bought the timber to renew roof spars, ran all the rebates for the glazing, painted first coat, wait for a fine day to take off the remaining glass and replace.

Lol, that's about all I do too. Had my front garden paved a few years ago to cut down on the work though I do have some grass at the back ;)

I'll get down and see you at the market one day Joe, I see the sign on the park railings every week when I go down to my sons flat on a Sunday and think must go next time it's on, then I have a CRAFT moment and then I pass the sign the next week and think I must go etc. etc.
