Question for OG

Postby Jan » 25 Jul 2006, 10:25

OG - we've been trying without success to buy in the UK that marvellous Aussie post-mozzie-bite remedy Stingose. Friends will be Down Under at Christmas and we may have to ask them to stock up on our behalf.

Do you know the stuff I'm talking about? Is it still readily available or shall we be asking the impossible?

Thanks

Jan

Question for OG

Postby Jan » 26 Jul 2006, 20:41

Thanks - I've replied to the other message. It's quite correct but I'd still like to know how easy it is to get the stuff in Oz, as I suspect it's far, far cheaper than buying one container from a wholesale supplier.

Hi Jan, Sorry, I've never heard of it, but then again, mozzies don't bother me. Next time I'm at the shops I'll have a look for you.
I presume its a spray can and not a roll on.
Over and out...Ozzie

Question for OG

Thanks, OG - that would be great. It's a pump action spray - plastic bottle about 4-5 inches high - I thought it was compulsory equipment in every Ozzie home :)

Not being eaten by mozzies (or indeed by any biting insect) would be the first thing I'd wish for if the genie were let out of the bottle.

OG - trillions of thanks for looking. Don't go *too* far out of your way though.

And enjoy that life when you find it.

[/quote]Sorry to butt in, OG and Jan but I think it's made by Pfizer Australia.

Now that's what I call service - a message board moderator who answers questions for you :D

Pfizer Australia it is. They must have bought the licence from a firm called Hamilton, who used to make it. We contacted them last time we bought some; they directed us to their UK agent and we bought direct from them. Which is what we tried to repeat this summer with no success.

Question for OG

Postby Ozzie Geoff » 08 Aug 2006, 13:41

Eureka!! I've found it, Jan..tons of it.
I was looking in the repellent section whereas Stingose is not a repellent but an after bite soother. It was only after I eventually asked an assistant that i found the answer!!
Right, its around 6 quid (sorry no pound signs on my machine) for the pump action and around 4 quid for the gel.
I'd only be too happy to send you some.
Let me know.
Oz.

Oooii yourself :) Brekky cereal? The bell does not toll on that one, Mille. Now, Vegemite is another question. If you let me know your address I'd only be too happy to send you some.
Its made in tube and sachet form now as so many ex-pats want it :)

Trouble is, the kids will get hooked on it and I'll be sending over in drums :D

I think you should have my email from way back when... :|

Brilliant! No need to send, though thanks v much for the offer. Our friends who'll be in Oz at Christmas can stuff their suitcases with it.

You're right - I should have said post-moz not ante (anti?). latin puns at this time of the morning - time I did some work!

Thanks again
