Lovely sunny weather

Postby Sheila and Andrew » 18 Sep 2006, 20:48

It's been absolutely glorious here in the south. A real Indian Summer :geek: . The leaves on the trees are starting to turn autumnal shades of reddish brown 8-) with a hint of yellow  here and there. Wait! :o Was that the first firework of Autumn I just heard?

What are you trying to build here? What on earth does monax mean? Some sort of timber? I give up.

Not bad weather here, either. :P
We've had such a mild winter that the fig and grapes are beginning to shoot and bear fruit....only about 3 months early.
The idea is to nip the young fruit off and hope the trees/vines go "back to sleep" for a while. :!:
Who said there ain't global warming?? :o

Never mind fireworks...

The hunting season has begun here

This means terrified sheep charging up and down the hillside every time a gun goes off, the pling of shot raining onto our roof and a lot of those dogs that spend most of the year cooped up in cages get to ride on big motorbikes... :o

Birds in theory...

It's quite a controversial issue in Greece and one that the EU and environmental bodies complain about frequently as, particularly in election years, the rural vote is courted by lifting hunting bans, regardless of environmental impact on breeding grounds etc. On Symi there isn't much left to shoot anyway but in other areas it is something that environmentalists get annoyed about.
