The photo on the BBC web site looks horrifying. I see that even the firefighting aircraft have been grounded and that the smoke has reached Tasmania. Good luck.

Keep safe, Kon. Naturally our news here in Perth is full of it.
Let us just hope there is no loss of life.
Will the Greenies and CALM get blamed for not allowing burn-backs?

With the Greenies there would probably be an uproar that the fire fighters are driving their trucks onto native grass.  :? while batling fires.

Greenies!!
I'm with you Kon, large women with short haicuts, usually dressed in a boiler suit and guys with beards and earrings.
Its called "rent-a-rabble".
Last year we had the makings of a bad fire and there they were, laying down in front of dozers, climbing trees and being very vocal.
Fortunately there was a change in wind direction and the blaze was controlled.
We may not be so lucky this year as we are a tinderbox due to little winter rain. Bring out the SAS, I say!! :o

Its hard to believe watching the news and seeing a nation in the southern hemesphere like Australia ablaze with fires and a nation like Africa drowning in floods with millions left homeless how strange our climate has become .
