You know you are getting on a bit when the top priority of your holiday list is enough prescription drugs to see you through the three weeks.

Symi pharmacy can get most things in an emergency :) but it is best not to wait until you have gulped down the last blood pressure pill :( before discovering it will take a day for the prescription to arrive from Rhodes.

I know how you feel, Sis. I have instructed family that when I start using one of those pill boxes which have little compartments for each day, they can put me in a home. Yesterday I poured fruit juice into a coffee cup - :o

You hit the nail on the head Kon...as soon as I set foot on Symi I go into relaxed mode, feeling like I've come home  .

But the moment I hit Gatwick on the return journey, it makes me cringe either to see the way folks behave getting nasty and impatient and pushing and shoving to get their luggage off the conveyor belt or to be faced with some sarcastic and unfriendly coach driver to take me back to Oxford :( .

Do they have those kinds of facilities on Symi do you think :?: or do they look after their old folk :?: .

Must admit I don't fancy hanging around once my faculties start to deteriorate.

We set sail with a fully equipped medical kit on board including IV drips, sutures - you name it, we had it. :o Well, there aren't any doctors out there in the middle of the Indian Ocean and what you don't have on board you can't use. :( We'd read tales of daring DIY surgery performed following crackling instructions over the VHF etc etc and were prepared to tackle anything that came our way. Oh the innate heroism of youth! :D

Fortunately we didn't need to use the panic station stuff and the syringes were used for feeding infant formula to abandoned kittens in Jaffa and Cyprus. :D

I always take a first aid kit with me - unfortunately last year it didn't contain anything for broken ribs! :(

I usually go armed with more medication than a chemist's shop just in case and then usually end up at the pharmacy for Findlay because he needs something I haven't packed :?
